Active Cleaning UK as it was known then was formed in 2000 as a contract cleaning company, providing commercial cleaning services to businesses accross the UK.

Our customers vary from leading high street retailers to healthcare, schools and collages to the leisure industary and financial services companies.

In 2002 Active Janitorial was formed to provide both existing and new customers with consumables such as paper products and cleaning chemicals to black sacks and floor machinery.

In 2003 Active Janitorial launched its own lable chemicals through its network of suppliers.

In 2004 Active Janitorial acquired Greenland Hygiene, a consumables company based in Southend-On-Sea. Greenland Hygiene and Active Janitorial had worked very closely together and the acquisition seemed a perfect geographical and strategic fit.

In 2005 we started an expansion programme and launched new divisions to move in to other areas such as Office Stationary and Furniture through Active Janitorial, Confidential Shredding (Active Shredding), Document Storage (Active Archive Storage) (and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clothing (Active Corporate Clothing).

In 2006 The companies concentrated on improving customer service, and as a result sucessfully winning a number of new contracts.

In 2007 Active Janitorial acquired Beales Disposables, another consumables company based in Romford. Today Beales Disposables concentrates on the supply of hand dryers and baby changing tables to architects and building contractors, and is based in Upminster.

In 2008 we acquired larger premises and moved our head office from Upminster to Norwich, increasing the size of our warehouse and office space. At the same time The Active Group of Companies Ltd was formed as a holding company and all trading companies became subsidiarys.

In 2009 The Active Group of Companies Ltd noticed a niche in the market and formed our washrooms division Active Washrooms which supply a complete range of washroom services from Feminine Hygiene Units to Washroom Vending Machines, Sharpes Disposal to Bulk Clinical Waste and Laundry Services.

In 2010 The Active Group of Companies Ltd acquired Anglia Cleaning, a small window cleaning company based in Norwich covering Norfolk and Suffolk.

In 2011 The Active Group of Companies Ltd developed our commercial waste and recycling division Active Wastecare, following a number of enquiries in to receiving a better quality commercial waste service. This also followed by branch offices being opened in Dereham and Great Yarmouth.

In 2012 The Active Group of Companies Ltd launched its Twitter page

In 2013 The Active Group of Companies Ltd launched Active Waterpoint; our water cooler division following recent customer feedback and market research. 

In March 2014 our washrooms service division, Active Washrooms became a member of the Independent Washrooms Services Association (IWSA), this means Active Washrooms are now able to offer a nationwide service across the UK and Ireland.

In February 2014 Active Washrooms introduced a new range of washroom products including Nappy Disposal Bins, Feminine Hygiene Units, Soap Dispensers, Virtual Janitors Toilet Seat Sanitizers, and Soap Dispensers.  

In September 2014 The Active Group of Companies Ltd successfully completed the acquisition of Caterclean Services based in Norwich. Caterclean Services was established in 1992 and provides Commercial Cleaning Services and Janitorial & Consumables, In 2011 Caterclean Services chose Active Washrooms as its supplier of choice to provide its customers with an unrivalled selection of washroom services.

In October 2014 we successfully demerged our laundry services from Active Washrooms and created a stand alone division Active Laundries. 

In November 2014 the group introduced our new monthly customer E-News letter, which will keep customers up to date on whats happening within the company, new products and services, as well as exclusive customer offers.

December 2014 saw Active Washrooms launch its own twitter page.

A new year and the first half of January 2015 saw our recent acquisition of Caterclean Services integrate within our commercial cleaning divisions Active Cleaning UK & Anglia Cleaning. 

In the second half of January 2015, we started our second expansion programme (Nine years since our first expansion programme in 2005) and launched our new division Active Facilities Management. Active Facilities Management specialises in bundled services but also taking us in to four new areas Fire Protection Services, Pest Control, Electrical Testing and IT & Network Support. These four new services have been introduced following feedback from existing customers requiring one complete service package and in-depth research. Our washroom service division was also successful, winning a major contract to provide a complete washroom package to several sites across Norfolk.

February 2015 saw Active Janitorial & Greenland Hygiene launch our new & improved range of hand soaps, which forms part of our hand care range. This also followed by us introducing a range of ''Basic'' paper products to include Toilet Rolls, Hygiene Rolls, Hand Towel, Serviettes and Couch Roll.

June 2015 saw Active Janitorial & Greenland Hygiene launch three new ranges of hand soap which complimented our hand care range.

August 2015 and the group celebrate it's 15th year of trading.

September 2015 saw Beales Disposables (Our dedicated hand dryer business) introduce the Sterillo range of hand dryers to its range of products, which combines a fast reliable hand dryer combining Air Steril at the same time. Active Washrooms also launched the new washrooms waste bin to its range of services.

November 2015 saw our washroom services division (Active Washrooms) launch a new range of medical waste services to include the collection of Dental, Pharmaceutical, Opthalmic, Gypsum & X-Ray Waste.

February 2016 saw our washroom service division (Active Washrooms) launch the new Bio Sanitary Unit, which is capable of being installed in to evan the smallest of washroom cubicles and is able to be either free standing or wall mounted.

In May 2016 the company underwent a complete rebrand to include a new corporate logo and new identity, from May 2016 we will be known as ''Active Group''. 

In addition each of our divisions also underwent a complete rebrand unveiling there new brand image.

In June 2016 we took the careful decision to sell our commercial trade waste business '' Active Wastecare '' to M.W White Ltd of Norwich, a leading independent family run business that soley concentrates on commercial trade waste across Norfolk & Suffolk.

The sale of our trade waste business will allow us to concentrate on our other core businesses, whilst also developing new products and services. 

August 2013 saw the introduction of our new customer referral scheme, the scheme has been designed as a way of thank you to our loyal customers for referring us to people wishing to benefit from our wide range of products & services.

October 2016 saw Active Janitorial & Greenland Hygiene launch a new range of chemicals to include Hand Soap, Toilet Cleaners and other cleaning chemicals used by various types of businesses on a daily basis.

Our washrooms division ''Active Washrooms'' & our entrance mat division ''Active Dustmats'' also issued our first customer survey via survey monkey. 

September 2017 Active Washrooms launched our new black designer Air Freshener unit, which is modern in design and reflects the most ultra modern looking washroom.

October 2017 saw the relocation of our Head Office to larger and more spacious premises.

January 2018 saw our washrooms division, Active Washrooms launch our Ruby Red range of products. Every sale of our Ruby Red services will see Active Washrooms donate 100% of the proceeds to The British Heart Foundation.

Active Washrooms also introduced our new Black Designer air freshener, designed with the most modern washroom in mind.  

As we grow our customers do to, customers requirements are changing constantly from small single site operations to regional or national contracts.

Today we are still looking at starting new businesses or acquiring small companies that take us in to new areas, however our ethos remains the same
